Bits and bobs
I had a David Lynch Twin Peaks moment in the subway yesterday. There was no space in my bag for my yoga mat so I was forced to cradle it in my arms; I caught a glimpse of my reflection in the subway window and I thought "Aaarrgghh, log lady!".
I am beginning to think that Al Gore has organised this freakishly warm winter as some type of tie in (and a sly "I told you so") to the DVD release of An Inconvenient Truth. Last week we had a few days were the temperature plummeted and you felt as if you'd be cut in two by the wind, but now we're back to flaccid winter temps of about 11 or 12 degrees (53 Fahrenheit). I am hoping I'll be able to get some serious winter coat action in Chicago this weekend.
Finally, not really feeling the Christmas vibe yet. No matter how many gingerbread lattes I suck down, chocolate covered marshmallow Santas I consume or Christmas compilations I listen to on my ipod - I can't get a convincing "Ho ho ho" out. I think it is because it is mild, because I have yet to receive a Christmas card (the one from my postman does not count as I think she was angling for a tip) and because we've no tree. There really wasn't that much sense in getting a tree as we are in Chicago this weekend and then in London for Christmas actual. So I'd have had to go through the painful process of taking it down before we left for Blighty and any residual Christmas spirit would have been sucked out.
