Pre-Chicago
I've been umming and ahhing all week over whether or not to bring my mini-me to Chicago. It would be nice to cut loose and not be drawn to the little shiny box of temptation on the desk, but it was not to be. The tipping point was that I have the tail end of a seminar on St Martin... there may or may not be more questions posted, I may or may not be able to answer them but I decided that it would be best if I brought it along. It also means that I can catch on blogging, surfing, podcasts and listening to Radio 4 shows. (Plus the birthday boy can hope on line as well.) I know that for some people the thought of getting away for a long weekend and bring a laptop might defeat the purpose but for us it is a safety blanket (we break out in hives when away from cycberspace too long).
It has been such a hectic week that we hadn't had a chance to crack open the guide book, but we do have a rough idea about what we want to see and do in the Windy City. A few art museums, a lot of walking and exploring, the Millenium Park and perhaps a jaunt on the river. The flight this morning was delayed by 90 mins; this was actually a blessing as Alex and I we're a bit delicate from my works Christmas party the night before. So a cat nap on the runway was just what we needed to perk us up and think we'll now be able to hit Michgean Avenue running.
(And of course having my lappy with me meant I could write this on the flight over. Aint modern technology grand!)
