- Finally rolled over an old IRA into my current 401k (this has only taken me over 18 months)

- Finished another Wallander mystery and 'Dogs of Riga' was even more bleak as it was partially set in Latvia
Negative

Having a much needed Anglo-Italian break. Bit frazzled from work so need to recharge my batteries and reconnect with things ancient.

Alex and I had plans for the fourth for all of two hours. We were going to watch the fireworks at a friend's but that didn't pan out so I am guessing that we'll just have to spend the evening playing duel control Flight Control, and complaining about the noise of the fireworks. That is, as long as I am able to get my new iPhone on Friday. Yes, I am finally succumbing to the lure of the 3G S. (The 'S' by the way stands for spiffing.) The choice was getting my highlights done or upgrading, and the thought of spending five days in Naples with Alex and not being able to play duel player Flight Control is just too much. What the heck would we do of an evening? So I'll just wear a hat whilst we are on vacation.
I think I have a bit of a thing for Alexander McCall Smith's prose because I have pretty much read everything he has published for the masses. I am really looking forward to watching the HBO/BBC adaptation of 'No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency' when it comes out on DVD, sadly we cancelled premium cable before it aired. But I've heard great things about it.
At lunch I popped into a local art shop to browse its extensive collection of colored pens. I find that art shops have a zen-like ambience, and I am comforted by being surrounded by items grouped by color. I found a couple of pens to adopt into my collection, and when I went to pay I was invited to spin-the-wheel. I am guessing this is a reccession beating tool. I was able to win myself a 40% discount on one of the $2.25 pens I was buying. Not a huge saving this time but who knows next time I may bag a free propelling pencil.
