- Cash only hairdressers, and getting my highlights filled in
- Off to Orlando on Thursday night

Boo

I didn't realize that Alex was going to be out at one of his geek support groups until I got his tweet reminding his nerd herd that the meet was on. So what is a girl to do with an unexpected night to herself? Well, I stopped off at the local nail salon for a pedi (the start if my Florida prep), and when I got home I know I should have hit the books (or my blog) but I really needed to lie on the sofa and catch-up on TrueBlood. It's such a good series. I fear I will never be able to enter the Twilight world because the vampire bar has been set high with Buffy and TrueBlood. Any how has I await the return of Alex I'm watching a Time Team themed episode of CSI: New York. It's a cheap Indiana Jones knock-off but it will keep me up long enough to post my seminar response.
- Did I underestimate the size of my boobs when ordering swimwear?
- Should I take one or two novels to Orlando?
- How much school work should I pack, and do I really need my lap top?
- Will all my summer clothes reek of moth balls?
- Would it be wise to get a pair of Converse sneakers or crochet Uggs for traveling/mooching about in?
- How late will I be able stay up tonight?
- Is there enough time to find a specialist Birkenstock repair shop to resole all my sandals?
- Should I start slapping on fake tan so I don't scare the locals with my pallor?
I can't believe that I am wobbling already but I have TWO seminars on the go at the moment and it is a tad stressful. I thought that my Architecture seminar wasn't kicking off until Friday but no it is today. Looks like I will be winging it on both fronts.
Just an aside, but did anyone think McPalin was really weird on SNL Election special?
As if I didn't have enough going on I am going to try, and participate in NaBloPoMo. I have a feeling that I will be consuming an awful lot of Brain Toniq to help me get through the next 30 days, especially when you consider that I have two seminars going on as well. FUN! Speaking of seminars someone got rather grumpy when I broke the news that I would be having to bring my laptop to Florida as I have one on Greek temples and architectural themes going on that weekend. What's a girl to do but answer questions from the poolside.
This week has been kinda tough, on Tuesday I started to get sick again and man was I crotchety. I thought that this second bout of scratchy throat was signalling doomsday or something far worse... another week of a dry itchy throat, coughing fits and an endless stream of snot. Can you think of any think worse? Any how it turned out that the end was not nigh. I am wondering if my agreeing to bake a zillion cupcakes for my office's Halloween lunch might have been one stress to many.
I think my handy work is refreshingly kooky, and a little less pretension than Magnolia bakery.
I've just crawled into bed with my laptop and a warm glass of cola. I am suffering from the worst case of indigestion in the history of the world, and all I had for lunch was half a sandwich and some salad. Hardly, enough to push me over the edge and into the arms of some antacid tablets. I think the pills kicked in en route as I burped my way from Prince to Rector Street, now my stomach is making some very weird noises and I think the warm cola is working its magic.
I was manhandled in yoga class this evening into headstand. There I was quite happily hanging out in the prepare position (modified downward dog with forearms on the floor) when the over eager substitute teacher made a bee line for me, grabbed my legs and hauled me into the full position. To her credit she did support me and then help be down but it was a bit of a shock to the system.
I am annotating my yoga mat with key dates from Roman history. Why I hear you ask because my exams are five months away (FIVE months away, practically next week when you think about it) and I need to get this information in my head. I might as well multitask as I find it impossible to clear my mind when I am doing yoga. Give myself something to read whilst I am hanging out in downward dog... perhaps it will catch on and annotated yoga mats will be coming to a lat night shopping channel near you.
Spent part of today Goldilocksing about town on the hunt for the perfect padded coat. Has to be a coat and not a "bum-freezer" jacket, even though there appear to be more options for the latter as Nike Town had plenty of lovely jewel coloured jackets and vests, because I must be wrapped up this winter and for our trip to the Windy City next month. Since I am getting serious about keeping warm I had to dismiss the beat up military style parkas. They may look chic but not enough padding to keep little old moi hot pocket toasty. I think I am going to end up getting the padded North Face parka I tried on a few weeks ago. It is white with a furry hood, felt like I was getting into a sleeping bag when I put it on and it comes down to my knees. Alex was concerned that I may pass out in the subway as it is designed for the tundra like climates, but I think I can handle it and quite frankly can you ever be too warm in the winter?
